THE PROJECT:
During recent construction to a private residence, severe rain led to organic staining on their outdoor limestone tiles. The home owners were not only looking to clean their outdoor stones, they were searching for a way to prevent this staining from happening in the future.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Limestone, being a calcareous and acid sensitive surface, contractors had to be careful not to etch or damage the surface of the delicate stone. Leaving machinery and harsh chemicals no viable options.
THE STAIN-PROOF® SOLUTION:
The developer chose STAIN-PROOF who was able to provide a safe and effective solutions to the project.
CLEAN – STAIN-PROOF SMC Peroxide Cleaner, formerly known as S-Tech Stone & Masonry Cleaner™, was applied to stone first as it is specifically designed for cleaning stubborn organic stains and deeply imbedded dirt. The unique, ready-to-use hydrogen peroxide based cleaner set in the stone for 5 minutes. As the solution generated a profuse foam, contractors then used a nylon bristle brush to break up the surface material and rinsed with clean water. The PH Neutral cleaner was not harmful to surrounding vegetation or toxic to watershed.
PROTECT – STAIN-PROOF Premium Impregnating Sealer, formerly known as STAIN-PROOF Original, was then applied to the stone providing permanent protection from water and oil intrusion without altering the stones natural color or finish. The beautiful limestone in this custom villa was restored back to it’s original look and was protected from any future damage or staining.
