THE PROJECT:

Daniel Gill’s sandstone carving of a manta ray named Swoop has been acquired by the Gold Coast City council at the 2010 Swell Sculpture Festival. The two-metre sandstone sculpture is displayed permanently at Coolangatta Beach on the Gold Coast, QLD. STAIN-PROOF was chosen for protection and enhancement treatment.

• Protection against damaged caused by water ingress
• Minimal maintenance
• Enhancement of natural color of sculpture 
• The beach would be visited by many people that would interact with the sculpture, often staining the surface with food or dirty hands 
• The color of the Helidon sandstone needed to stand out

Color Enhancing Sealer was also used for this project because it repels water and provides a deep enrichment of the natural color of a stone.

Color Enhancing Sealer is the ultimate combination of enhancer and impregnating sealer, providing deep colour enrichment plus unrivalled water and oil repellence. The UV-resistant enhancer will not discolour crack or peel over time. Color Enhancing Sealer retains the wet slip resistance and breathability of surfaces. The enhancer is also environmentally responsible producing low VOCs throughout its exceptional 5+ year lifespan.
